Sponsor Opportunities in BD:
We are currently seeking sponsorship for our Biodiesel team. This may be in the form of monetary donations as well as donated parts and supplies that will allow us to complete the project. Sponsors will be listed here as well as have their logos displayed on the biodiesel production unit once it is completed. If you are interested in sponsoring the team in any way please contact us at VTBioFuels@gmail.com.
Sponsor Opportunities in WVO:
The Virginia Tech Bio-Fuels Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) sub-team has made a great deal of progress so far! Our goal is to design an extremely ergonomic system that allows users to run their diesel vehicle on WVO. Another attribute we are striving to attain is high efficiency. We want to maximize miles per gallon of waste vegetable oil (WVO) used while minimizing petroleum diesel fuel usage. We will achieve these goals with the help of industry using various modes of heat transfer. We are currently still looking to acquire various filtering elements, hoses and fuel lines, and heat exchangers. The use of heat exchangers allow the VT Bio-Fuels team to thin the WVO to a viscosity similar to that of petroleum diesel fuel, which makes the WVO adequate for use in diesel engines. The filtration aspects of the system are also integral. They eliminate particulates like food and water from the fuel, and these are also necessary for WVO's use in diesel engines. So far, "K & N" has donated a very high efficiency air filtration system for one of our WVO vehicles. In addition, "Magnaflow" has donated a low restriction dual exhaust system for one of our WVO vehicles. These systems help our vehicle achieve higher efficiency by maximizing fresh, clean air in while also maximizing the escape of exhaust gases from the engine. Companies that contribute to our team by aiding in our research and development with Bio-Fuels can expect excellent benefits! They will receive representation on our vehicles that travel all over the country. Also, the mobile bio-diesel processing unit will carry the logos of all of the WVO sub-teams sponsors. Moreover, all the companies that contribute to the Virginia Tech Bio-Fuels team will receive representation on our website, as well as at the various car shows our team plans to attend. Although this is a difficult time in the American automotive industry, we are seeking help from all over the industry. Research and development with these American Alternative Fuels (AAFs) are necessary. We yearn to decrease dependency on foreign oil while helping the environment. We seek to recycle this waste product from the restaurant industry while helping the automotive industry and all industries over the country as well! Our team email address is VTBioFuels@gmail.com and we would love your help with our thrilling senior design project.
